How To: Export Checked Section Audio

Sometimes it’s helpful to get audio out of Render to play it on a different device or send it over WhatsApp or another method. Here is how you can export selected section audio out of Render.

Export checked sections

  1. After you log in to your user, click on the 3-dot menu and choose “Section Status.”
  2. Search for the Section(s) that you want to export.
  3. Once you see the Section(s) you want to export, click/tap the check box and then click/tap the “Export” button near the top of the screen.
  4. The “Select an Option” modal will open. Choose the icon with the check mark (on the right):
  5. A Windows File Explorer window will appear. Choose the destination location on your computer and then click on the “Select Folder” button. You will see a progress bar during the export and Render will display “Export Complete” when finished. This will create a separate zipped file at that location for each of the sections you checked. Each zip file will contain all the draft and back translation audio associated with that Section.

Find and unzip the exported files

  1. Open a Windows File Explorer window and navigate to the destination location you chose during the export process.
  2. Locate the zipped file(s). Run the “Extract” process on each one and accept the default settings. This will create an actual folder with the same name as the zip file (one folder for each zip file).

The names of the files in the zip archive have the following format:

  • Receptor language (example: English)
  • Section number (example: 2)
  • Scope name (example: Ruth)
  • Chapter number (example: 2)
  • Verse numbers (examples: 1-13 and 14-23)
  • Stage at which it was exported (example: Consultant Check)
  • Substage (example: SBT for Segment Back Translate)
  • File type (example: .mp3)

For example, the files associated with Ruth Section 2 at the Consultant Check stage are as follows:

  • English_2_Ruth – Consultant Check – PBT_1.mp3 (the Passage Back Translation audio file)
  • English_2_Ruth – Consultant Check – SBT_1.mp3 (the Segment Back Translation audio file)
  • English_2_Ruth, 2_1-13, 2_14-23 – Consultant Check.mp3 (the Draft audio file for the whole section which, in this case, has 2 passages)

Files exported from Render are now provided in .mp3 instead of .wav format for wider compatibility between devices.
